My crude sketch with dimensions of the main pack. It was a tricky thing to draw upon initial inspection. In hindsight it might not have been a bad idea to take photos with our ruler in the shot, but I guess we didn't want to risk obscuring an important detail.
Sketch with dimensions of additional views of the pack along with the gun. Also note a small sketch of the backpack frame. At the time we had no knowledge of what an "Alice pack" was.
Working from the sketched plans and photos I used my drafting skills to create this scale representation of the major elements of the pack. Evidently I found something wrong with this because I x-ed it out. Still, this looks pretty close.
I revised the previous plan and came up with this half-scale version laying out the major elements.
My next step was to create half-scale detailed plans of the major elements. The names of the parts are my own, of course.
Half-scale plans for these parts.
Half-scale plan for this.

Finally, I made full-scale plans of the major elements. This is what I came up for the main body of the gun.
Detail of the plans for the tip of the gun, including a supply list. "Craigs" was Craig's Hobby in Tucson (long, long gone). RS is Radio Shack. K-Mart is K-Mart, back when people shopped at K-Mart.
Full-scale template for what would come to be called the motherboard. Being on a very limited budget we ended up making ours out of 3/16" plexiglass, cut by Bryan on a bandsaw.
Various full-scale plans of various elements. Not woth scanning in individually.
