We modeled, surfaced and animated multiple 3D environments and objects for this episode of the 2014 PBS series Time Team America, produced by Oregon Public Broadcasting, to recreate locations in and around the Maryland plantation that partially inspired Uncle Tom’s Cabin. We used camera mapping tools to insert 19th century furnishings into contemporary video. The slave cabin and kitchen were created from scratch based on reference materials provided by the producers. For Josiah’s book we found a PDF of the actual pages and mapped those exactly to our 3D model.
